Ponmudi

Ponmudi, which translates to “The Golden Crown” in malayalam is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range in the South west region of the Indian subcontinent. Kallar

One of the most fun things to do in Kallar is the 2 KM trek to the Meenmutty Waterfalls and the Golden valley. Make sure to carry your camera with you so that won’t miss out on capturing beautiful memories. Another 2km trek from meenmutty falls will take you to enchanting Kombaikani Falls. This region is also famous for ‘Vanamuthassi’ (Grandmother of the jungle in Malayalam), Lekshmikutty Amma. She is a poet, teacher at the Kerala Folklore academy and poison healer who received the padmashree award for Nattu vaidyam(Naturopathy).
Braemore Estate

The Braemore Marigold estate was established by the British during the late 1800s. It is one of the oldest tea estates in Kerala. Named after the Braemore village of England, for having the climate, the 900acre Braemore estate now produces Tea and Coffee. It is a great destination for trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers. The estate has a large open flat piece of ground, commonly referred to as the “Helipad” as it is large enough to accomodate one. The estate workers use this area to dry spices in the sun. Koyikkal Palace

The Koyikkal Palace was constructed in the second half of the 1600s. It was built as a summer retreat for Umayamma Rani of the Venad Royal Family. Today, it is a famous Folklore an Numismatics Museum. The collection in the museum offers an insight into the rich history of Kerala. Koyikkal palace houses one of the rare Musical instrument known as Chandravalayam. This small percussion instrument is played while reciting the Ramakathappattu (the story of Lord Rama). Jatayu Earth's Center

Anjengo Fort

Anjengo Fort is will always be remembered in the history as the location of the first trade settlement of the East India Company in Kerala. The site of the fort was given to the english for trade purposes by the then Queen of Attingal. Anjengo or Anjuthengu(Five Coconut Trees in malayalam) was a small stretch of land with five coconut trees at the time. The old English Fort that once stood here would be constantly attacked by foreign powers for centuries. Today, this place provides one with a majestic architectural marvel situated in a picturesque setting. Vizhinjam

Vizhinjam is a small fishing town in the outskirts of the Thiruvananthapuram City limits. Vizhinjam is a natural port and is very close to the international shipping routes. The Vizhinjam International Seaport is a deepwater multi-purpose shipping hub and is in its early stages of development. Apart from the seaport, Vizhinjam is known for the Ayurvedic treatment centres and Rock-cut cave Temple. The Vizhinjam Rock-cut cave is considered to be the smallest in South India and is dated to back to 8th century. The shrine has a central cell with an independent sculpture of Dakshinamurthy and on either side of the cell are unfinished sculptures of Siva and Parvathi. It is believed to be one of the earliest rock-cut cave temples in Kerala. This rock cut cave is now a protected monument under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India since 1965.
